We would like to introduce ourselves
After a long and harried search lasting more than 10 years, the dream of opening a b&b came true.
Alberto, a friend of a thousand adventures, got himself dragged visiting, cottages, farmhouses, Guesthouses, Hotels and even a diffused hotel, then, thanks to our friend Paola we found this detached house in the small village of Piantravigne, called "The Pearl of the Balze" in Valdarno, in the municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini (Arezzo).
A village almost a thousand years old: rebellious against the Florentines in the 1200s, inhabited - always - by practical people: peasants and workers, and in all these elements of will and independence we reflect ourselves. Fifty or so houses perched on a balza, a clay tower looking out over half the Valdarno from its windows and terraces.
A quiet place, away from traffic, where time has stopped (and that's not a catchphrase, if you visit us you will see).
We felt it was just right for receiving guests because of the setting, history, and view, and make it the perfect place to regain energy, relax, to use as a base camp to discover Tuscany or to catch breath after a day of work.
Purchased in April 2022, it had been empty and quiet for a few years and needed renovation.
So many months of work, delays, sleepless nights, anger, hunting for the lost craftsman, and that whole series of events and problems classic to those who get into these big projects!
It is a house with a lot of history, with large walls made of stone and grit stairs; we even have loopholes (bricked up) in the cellars - probably a legacy of the bastion role of the ancient castle of Piantravigne narrated even in the Divine Comedy.
We are also fortunate to have a terraced garden, surrounded by a wood, a rarity for a village house.
Tourist hospitality is part of the family DNA; my parents met because of Hotel Linda in Gaggio Montano, my father built it, my mother oversaw its opening and then its management, it was our "home," our beacon, now RossoToscano is its natural heir.
The management is done by four hands by myself and the supervision of my mom Luisa and with the contribution "in the shadows - but not too much" of Alberto.
RossoToscano was created to be a warm, family environment where you feel comfortable, designed to make you feel good and relaxed, and we try our best to give you good service!
